My brother, Aaron, was all about the exchange of positive energy between people. He was a massage therapist for over 20 years. People just raved about his massages. He had a large client base in Evergreen that would follow him anywhere, to whatever spa he was working at or he would come to their homes to do massage. He had this amazing ability to rub his hands together and they would instantly fill with energy and heat up. He had a gift. And his personality was just as warm.
But in August of 2015 he was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer and had stopped giving massages. We were all devastated, my family and his clients alike, at the news that he probably wouldn’t live to see his 50th birthday. He rapidly declined over the next 18 months and we lost him in February of 2017. It was standing room only at his funeral as over 300 people came to pay their respects to the man that had poured his positive energy into their bodies and souls.
About a month before he passed I began reflecting on how many people’s lives he had literally touched over the course of his 46 years and I began wondering if I could have that kind of impact in helping people feel better. I wondered what I could do to touch people’s lives in such a positive way. But I wasn’t trained in the art of massage therapy. So what could I do to carry on the legacy of the kind of difference he made in the health and wellbeing of hundreds of people?
I started doing research on touch and healing and how to spread positive energy in the world and I came across some very interesting information. I learned that touch really does have an impact on people’s overall wellness, especially as you age.
So I took the training to become a Certified Cuddler and developed a series of workshops to help educate folks about the power of positive touch and, in addition, give them the experience of positive touch in a group setting. I welcome you to join my in my mission to enhance elderhood!!!
Please reach out if you have a group or individuals that could benefit from a great hug!
